Hypnosis is similar to daydreaming; it is a state of relaxed concentration and heightened suggestibility where the conscious mind is kept busy while the hypnotist provides positive suggestions directly to the subconscious mind based on what the client wants to change or improve about themselves. But hypnotism is more than just relaxation; it has been shown that the heart rate remains lower longer with hypnosis that after just relaxation alone. And people accept suggestions every day as they watch commercials and are “programmed” to like a certain product or idea. The subconscious mind is the place where we store all of our memories since the day we were born. And the subconscious cannot tell the difference between a real memory and one that is imagined, so in hypnosis we have people imagine and visualize themselves as a non-smoker/exercising daily/with a positive self image/etc so vividly that the subconscious mind thinks it is an actual memory and acts upon it accordingly. We naturally go in and out of light hypnotic states each day, but when you allow your subconscious mind to use hypnosis to make big, positive changes in your life you can truly see the power that we all have within us!
